Hey all
Just thought I would post some info on my winter project. I have been toying with the idea of building a cnc router and finaly committed to it last fall but hadn't done much until early this spring. I am almost done. I have a few things left to do and a few final tweeks to make but its very close. My goal was to be able to cut a full sheet of depron. I missed it by just a bit. X axis travel length is 37.5 inches and Y axis travel is 27.4 inches. Z axis is about 3.5 inches. I lost a little more in the length of the machine than I thought I would when building it but I should be able to cut about any foamy with a span of up to 37". There is a plethora of info on the web about DIY cnc routers. I have learned a lot and still have MUCH to learn. I'm still in the R&D (expirimenting) stage now but I'm getting more and more comfortable with it and all the software avery day. I'll post up a few pictures and maybe a video when I can get time. Hope to see you all at the field really soon. Hope I can still remember how to fly!

Well, I said I would post some pics of my router some time ago but thanks to mother nature I have been remodeling my basement (wet), so I haven't had any time at all to get into the garage. I'm getting close to done (thank God!!!) with the basement and might actually get to spend some time in the shop this weekend. I'll definately take some pics and maybe even post up a video as well.

OK so I felt bad and put together a short vid of the first cuts from Dan's combat plane. I have stepped it up quite a bit since this vid was shot and am now cutting at a much faster rate and cutting multiple sheets at one time. Let me know what you think.
